From its name, tennis elbow would have people presume that it can be developed from playing tennis, but this is not true. It can be caused by moving in any repetitive way. This can affect labourers in their everyday lives using hand tools which cause them to repeatedly move their arm in a certain position. You may find it strange to think that using certain exercises to cure tennis elbow will actually help it to heal, but its true. These exercises can be beneficial for decreasing the pain in the elbow, strengthening the muscles affected and healing the arm much more quickly and efficiently.

The best exercises to use

Ironically for this first exercise you will need a tennis ball or something similar such as a rubber ball. Just a standard tennis ball should suffice. You need to hold the ball I the hand of your injured arm and squeeze it as hard as you can. Don’t do it too quickly or too slowly, just use a medium speed.

You only need to perform this exercise around 4 times a day. You can split it up into 2 sessions, once in the morning and then once in the evening. This should help to strengthen the muscles in your affected arm and help to prevent stiffness and discomfort whilst the arm is healing.

There is another simple and easy exercise that you can perform in your own home. You can do this one sitting at a table. You will need a small and light hand weight or a normal can, such as a can of cola or beans. You need to hold this weight in your injured arm hand and then rest your arm flat on the table. Slowly raise your arm from the table until your arm reaches a 90 degree angle.

Repeat this exercises just a couple of times a day. This will help to promote flexibility in the arm and strengthen and tone the muscles.

Remember, as with all exercises you shouldn’t continue if it becomes painful. If you experience any discomfort whilst performing these exercises then you should stop immediately.
